CWELCC agreement
I am pleased to share that Ballantrae Child Care Centre has opted-in to the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) agreement between the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada.
The main focus of the CWELCC plan is to reduce child care fees for families with children under the age of six (as well as children who turn six years before June 30). As an initial step, families with eligible children at our child care will see a fee reduction of up to 25% (to a minimum of $12/day), retroactive to April 1, 2022.
In January 2023, an additional fee reduction of 25% will be introduced, this means the fees you pay next year will be 50% lower than they are now. Additional reductions will continue in 2024 and 2025.
The agreement process with York Region has now been finalized and BCCC has received a lump sum of money which we will now begin to distribute back to you.

Program Statement
Ballantrae Child Care Centre uses a play-based approach to create the best environment for children to learn and grow. Our environment consists of age-appropriate materials, toys and equipment. We follow the lead of the children and provide activities that support their overall development using observations to guide our planning. We know that children learn best by pursuing their personal interests and goals, making their own choices about materials and activities during program time. As they pursue their choices and plans, children explore, solving problems by asking and answering questions while interacting with peers, program staff, students and other adults.
Our Programs
All full time E.C.E.’s are registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators. We offer a variety of care options and your child can trust that every teacher will lovingly care for all of his or her needs. We offer full time care to our before and after programs during Christmas Break, March Break, Summer Break and all P.A. days. All groups have the opportunity to play, explore and discover the wonders of nature during our outdoor play time which happens twice a day, for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. Our educators plan daily activities that include – creative, sensory, dramatic and cognitive play. Some activities involve one on one interaction while others enhance group relationships. We provide a balance of activities which are all developmentally appropriate.
TODDLERS/PRESCHOOL (18 months - 4 years)
Our program focuses on developing warm relationships with both playmates and caregivers thus fostering a sense of security and self-confidence. We also focus on letter recognition, numbers, colours, shapes, vocabulary and social skills. We will ensure that our toddlers and preschoolers will have an enjoyable, fun filled day of learning.
KINDERGARTEN (4 - 6 years)
Our before and after school program provides children with more opportunities to learn and grow and provides a seamless day with fewer transitions for children and families. Our program is a supportive extension to your child's full-day kindergarten program.
SCHOOL AGE (6 - 12 years)
Our before and after school program is designed to foster creativity and encourage the development of both intellectual and physical well being. We know that building self-esteem and experiencing success is important to children in this age group.

Ballantrae Child Care Centre has facilities to accommodate the following children:
21 Preschooler children 18 months to 3 years
20 Kindergarten children 4 to 5 years
68 School aged children 6 to 12 years
We offer a variety of care options. Full day, Half day, Nursery School, Before and After school Programs. Part time care is available as well with a minimum of 2 days per week
Closures
Both full and part time care is provided 51 weeks each year. Care is provided from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The following holidays are observed:
December 25 to January 1, inclusive
Thanksgiving Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Civic Holidays, Victoria Day, Labour Day, Canada Day, Family Day
If York Region District School Board closes our school due to bad weather, the program will not open. If only buses are cancelled the program will remain open. If the school closes during the day due to inclement weather, the after school program will NOT open and you will be required to pick your child up from school
Wholesome Kids Catering
Ballantrae Child Care Centre is catered by Wholesome Kids Catering. Wholesome Kids focus is on healthy, nutritious, multicultural, home-style meals that children enjoy. They pack our menu full of the best ingredients and continue to provide new food experiences with exciting flavours, aromas, colours and textures.
Food Safety is there top priority:
- the first Kids Caterer in Ontario to be HACCP Certified(Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points)
-Accommodation of over 100 different food allergies and food restrictions every day
-There facility is 100% nut free, pork free and shellfish free
-Allergy and dietary replacements are cooked separately by a nutritionist.
The menus are fabulous and the children are enjoying eating everything up!
